Need a Quick Way to Lose Fat?
Many people are out searching for quick ways to lose weight. I will argue that what you really need is NOT a super secret way to lose weight fast. What you REALLY need is just to get started, and to set goals! The hardest part of a weight loss program for most people is the beginning. Most people just don’t have a clue how to get started! Does this sound like you? Regardless of the amount of weight you’re trying to lose, these tips are for you.
The first step to successful weight loss is, as it is for many other challenging things, goal setting. The best way to reach a result is to visualize the result–visualize the person you want to be, the physique you want to achieve. It may sound like “new age” nonsense, but without specific goals, you will have no idea of how much work you have left. By making the goal specific, such as the exact number of pounds, then you will know exactly how much you have left to lose. You can keep working at it until your scale reads exactly the digits you want. It’s hard to know whether you’ve reached “weigh less,” isn’t it?
First you should ask yourself two very important questions:
1. How much weight you want to lose–down to the pound?
2. By when do you want to lose all the weight? Are you aiming for a beach body for the summer? Being in shape for your wedding?
Write the answers to these questions down — feel free to store them in your electronic planner, but write them down. Writing your goals is a memory trick to help you internalize the goal, making sure that you never forget! Write your weight loss goals on a piece of paper, make copies of that paper, and stick each paper on every place that you are regularly–your office, your car, and especially your kitchen! Make sure you don’t forget to stick this paper on your pantry in the kitchen, since it is the place that the demon known as “temptation” lurks and threatens your weight loss efforts!
Don’t just put “I want a flat stomach fast” on the fridge–write “I want to be wearing a size 7 waist by June 30!”
In order to make sure the goals are effective, you must set REALISTIC goals. If you have a goal of losing sixty pounds within a couple of weeks, you will only be disappointed. Setting such a goal disencourages you to continue; realistic goals allow you to make progress and help you stay motivated. Now you can break down your specific goal into weekly objectives, track progress and make adjustments if you miss. THAT is the way to get the weight you want!
Set achievable goals for yourself so that when you achieve them, you will feel more confident. This–goal setting with realistic goals– is the biggest secret of successful weight loss!
